What is a Postpartum Doula?

A Postpartum Doula works with each family’s unique needs to provide support and evidence-based information on newborn care and feeding, mother-infant bonding, nutrition, and rest for physical and emotional healing from birth.

Services Provided By Mama Maria Postpartum Doula:

Mama Maria is here to help in the days and weeks (usually 0-3 months) following the birth of your baby!
I will “mother the mother” by attending to her unique needs during this time of transition experienced by your family. Helping parents become confident and comfortable through feeding support, family education, healthy healing meals & snacks, scheduling of visitors, and caring for baby. All services provided will be tailored to the needs of your family.

Regardless of the birthing experience, a mother’s body requires time to physically and emotionally heal from the birth. The first two weeks following birth are a time for mother-newborn bonding with as much skin to skin contact as possible, nutritious foods and water for healing (and milk production for those who are breast feeding), and plenty of bed rest.  Visitors will have opportunities for meeting your newborn soon enough!
